I know you're called Doggywalker.com, but will you care for my cat also?
Doggywalker.com will care for dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, chinchillas, and turtles! If you have another type of pet, feel free to ask! Sorry, no snakes or exotics.

What areas do you serve?
Doggywalker.com serves clients in Alexandria and Arlington, Virginia. Please contact us if you are unsure if we serve your area.

How do I hire Doggywalker.com?
If you're interested in hiring Doggywalker.com, please complete the New Client Form. A company representative will contact you within one business day to answer any additional questions.

What is a profile?
We keep a profile on every home and pet we visit. The profile includes important information including walk schedule, feeding schedule, your contact information, vet information, general routines, any quirks about your home or pet (we all have quirks!), and much more. That profile is then provided to any caregiver that visits your home. We ask that you inform the office as changes occur in the routine of your pet and your home so we can be sure the profile reflects them. Basically, the profile allows us to make sure we are following the routine as you would!

I need to schedule a visit for today. Can you help me?
If you are already an active client with Doggywalker.com and your keys and profile are on file, we will make every effort to honor a same-day care request. Please remember our "48-Hour Policy" and understand there will be a fee for last minute requests, as our caregivers must adjust their schedules to accommodate the visit.

To ensure the best care possible and for the safety of all, we are unable to schedule last-minute requests for new clients. Please contact us at least two weeks before you would like to begin visits so we can schedule your consultation, meet you and your pet(s), and have everything ready for your visits to begin when you need them.

What is your "48-Hour Policy"?
Doggywalker.com utilizes a 48-hour scheduling and cancellation policy to make certain all our clients receive first-rate service. If you call to schedule or cancel a visit (or visits) with less than 48 hours notice, you will be charged an additional fee, as our caregivers must adjust their schedules to accommodate yours.

Why do you need two sets of keys?
Doggywalker.com keeps two sets of keys on file in case there is ever a problem. Occasionally the unplanned happens in life, and having an extra set of keys allows us to make sure your pet(s) can still be visited. One set of keys is assigned to your caregiver, and the other is safely stored "just in case." We believe in Better Safe Than Sorry!

Are you insured?
For the protection of all, Doggywalker.com (and its caregivers) is covered by multiple bonding and insurance policies.

How do you choose your pet caregivers?
Doggywalker.com's goal is to ensure the safety and security of our clients, their pets and their property. Our caregivers undergo an extensive screening process before they are hired, including reference checks and background history checks. Doggywalker.com's caregivers are screened carefully and are meticulously trained.

Will I be assigned the same pet caregiver each time I use the service?
Our goal is for each household to have an assigned "regular" caregiver. Occasionally your caregiver may be sick, on vacation, etc. In that case a fully trained and informed substitute will be assigned to your pet(s). That's one of the reasons we keep each pets profile on file so each caregiver can be well educated on the pets they visit. Sometimes it will be possible to meet a substitute caregiver, and sometimes it will not. Rest assured -- your pet and home will be in good hands with any Doggywalker.com caregiver.

Can you guarantee a specific visit time?
For regular visits we operate with a two hour window.  This means that we will make every effort possible to arrive at your home within the two hour window that you designate.  If you have two visits during the day M - F, or if you have a puppy under six months old, we will make every reasonable effort to see your dog within a one hour window.  Cat visit are generally scheduled with a larger time window.

May I give my pet caregiver a gratuity?
You are welcome to give your caregiver a gratuity if you wish. You may either give it directly to your caregiver or, if you prefer, you may pay it to the company. No matter whom you pay it to, 100% of the gratuity will go directly to your designated caregiver.
