What to Do With an Uninterested Pet

From time to time you may encounter a pet that is not interested in receiving care and attention. If this situation develops it is important that you ensure that all the objectives of the visit have been met:

  • Bathroom break, walk and/or playtime.
  • Feeding(if applicable).
  • Cleaning litter box (applies only to cats).
  • House-sitting responsibilities (for pet sitting visits only).

Even if the pet does not wish to engage with you in play/affection time once the visit objectives are met, you MUST remain at the residence with the pet until the visit time has come to an end.  It is also important to note that clients may have cameras, alarm logs, friends, and/or neighbors checking to be sure that you are visiting the client’s pet at the scheduled times and that you have remained with the-pet for the allotted visit period.  Therefore, it is essential that you remain in the pet’s presence and residence for the entire scheduled visit time.
